Hale County completed the 2016 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region four, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Hale County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Tallassee by a score of 29-26. It marked the first time since the 2013 season that the Wildcats qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Hale County has gone a combined 36-39. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 4A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hale County has managed to compile a record of 143-135. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 4A and 180th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Charles Moody Jr. who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-6 record in his first season at Hale County. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Moody Jr.. The Pirates lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Cherokee County by a score of 29-22. Hale County and Winfield have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 1-3-0 record against the Pirates. They last met in 2016 with Winfield winning by a score of 31-22. Hale County returns 4A All-State Senior defensive back Jay Thomas.
